Mechanical Engineer

Position Overview

We are looking for a talented manufacturing engineer to oversee and improve manufacturing
processes. The manufacturing engineer’s responsibilities include identifying areas for
improvement, maintaining high levels of manufacturing and product quality, designing new
products and processes, as well as ensuring cost-efficiency and conformance with regulatory
standards.

Education and Training Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • AutoCAD 2D design software training or certification
  • SolidWorks 3D modeling software training or certification

Years Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years design experience with metal stamping/fabrication
  • Three to five years’ experience in project management

Skills Required:

  • Proficient in the use of AutoCAD and SolidWorks software to design mechanical components from supplied sketches
  • Ability to detail working drawings with appropriate dimensions and tolerances
  • Able to create and analyze assembly drawings per customer supplied data
  • Proficient in the use of Measuring Tools, Calipers, Micrometers, Height Gages, Scales, Rockwell Testers, etc.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing concepts
  • General knowledge of various manufacturing processes such as die casting, injection molding, iron casting, etc.
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative capabilities

Duties/Work Performed:

  • Design new hardware for garage doors using both AutoCAD and SolidWorks software
  • Design production tooling, gauges, fixtures, and jigs
  • Manage ECNs, ECRs and new products and tooling
  • Apply lean manufacturing methodology to reduce wastes and improve production output
  • Conduct cost estimating activities for engineering changes, new parts, and processes
  • Install garage doors / parts and perform cycle testing to validate product designs
  • Work closely with toolroom supervisors to assist them with tasks as needed
  • Work with the Quality Department to establish testing standards for new parts
  • Maintains and organizes all ATL production drawings and detailed layouts of building and equipment
  • Perform any other duties as assigned
